The ankle has numerous ligaments connecting the Distal Tibia, Fibula, tarsal bones and metatarsal bones. Sprain or tears of these ligaments cause severe pain and damage to the foot and ankle.
Ankle joint pain is caused by:
- Arthritis: Different types of arthritis can affect the Ankle joint, causing pain, stiffness, reduced range of motion and difficulty in walking.
- Tendinitis: Inflammation of the tendons or tears of tendons connecting muscles to bones can cause ankle pain.
- Achilles Tendinosis: Achilles tendon is one of the strongest tendons in our body. Inflammation, strain and partial strain may cause severe heel pain
- Plantar Fasciitis: Very common foot pain causing bottom of heel pain or the bottom of ball of the foot.
Treatments
